Registered Music Together Teacher

Manda's Music Together would like to welcome Karen Mansfield to our teaching staff!  Karen has a lifetime of experience and love of music, and a natural gift with children. Having been taught to sing as a toddler by her Grandmother, whose brother Charlie had a stint as a Vaudeville entertainer, Karen was memorizing Vaudeville song lyrics and putting on shows at all family gatherings, even making up her own songs, all by the age of three. Being the oldest daughter in a family of six children, the niece of 11 aunts and uncles on her mom’s side, one of 51 first cousins, she grew up with children of all ages surrounding her and music was always a part of their play. In fact one of her first cousins’ daughter, is an enthusiastic Music Together promoter and teacher in Syracuse, New York.

At nineteen, after picking up the guitar only a few months before, diving right in as a songwriter, Karen formed and fronted her first band, the first ever (almost) all girl acoustic punk band on the Jersey Shore; quirky, passionate and humorous, The Bleeding Knees. She performed and recorded with Whirling Dervishes (You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch) and opened for punk icon Johnny Thunders of the New York Dolls. Karen went on as a solo artist performing with international acts such as Jewel, Robert Hazard, Concrete Blonde, Vance Gilbert and Jeff Buckley, and performed as a trio with Mikael Jorgensen (Wilco) and Erik Paparazzi (Cat Power).

After becoming a mother Karen decided to take her life of and devotion to music more seriously by furthering her education. Karen holds an Associate’s Degree in Humanities/Liberal Arts (Music) from Brookdale Community College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from Rutgers University. Karen had the privilege to attend her Music Together teachers training in Princeton with founder Ken Gilmartin in the fall of 2002.

Karen released her first album, a self-titled six song EP of original songs, on her own label in November 2014 to critical acclaim. She has performed most recently with Simon Townshend (brother of Pete Townshend of The Who), Garland Jeffries, James McCartney (son of Sir Paul) and The Smithereens. She is currently in preproduction for her sophomore effort, a full length album of originals produced by Grammy nominated Steve Greenwell (Joss Stone, Diane Birch, Steve Forbert, and Jonas Brothers)

Karen has more than 14 + years’ experience teaching music: (infant through 8th grade) in private school; as director of music for children’s church; as a pre-school teacher at Fort Monmouth Child Development Center; as a private music instructor for guitar, piano and voice, either one on one or in a group. Karen has taught various Mommy and Me type early childhood development music programs, though she says she feels Music Together is far superior in their mission statement, heart and credentials. She is thrilled to be back on board as a Music Together Teacher.

Registered Music Together Teacher

Manda's Music Together is excited to welcome Pam Rodgers to our teaching staff!  Pam is a professional singer/dancer who has performed with the national tour of Cats and the European tour of 42nd Street. From age 3-18, Pam trained in Tap, Jazz and Ballet with Dance World Academy of Clifton, NJ. Pam has her BFA in Acting and a minor in Musical Theater from Marymount Manhattan College in NYC. Here, she was one of 2 recipients of the "Excellence in Acting" award in her graduating class.

Since 1993, Pam has been training at various dance studios in NYC, including Broadway Dance Center.  Pam's recent choreography has been strongly influenced by her current favorite teachers: Acia Gray and Karen Callaway-Williams (Tap), Peter DiBonaventura (ballet), and Mishay Petronelli (contemporary jazz).

Professionally, in addition to the tours mentioned above, Pam sang and danced on the Silver Cloud cruise ship with Silver Sea Cruises for two years. She also played such roles as "Diana Morales" in A Chorus Line, "Joan" in Dames at Sea, "Sally Bowles" in Cabaret, and "Velma Kelly" in Chicago at various regional theaters.  In 2015, Pam returned to the stage at the Count Basie of Red Bank, NJ as a dancer/singer in "Jesus Christ Superstar" with Phoenix Productions.  Presently, Pam is the lead singer of local party band, "Sensation", rocking out to the hits of the 80s-today.

Pam's Choreography credits include "Damn Yankees", "Cabaret" and "Chicago" for Director Peter Palame of Palame Productions in NJ, as well as "The Wizard of Oz" with director Bill Kaufman at the Montclair Operetta Club of NJ.

In the past, Pam taught dance and theater at various NJ dance schools, including Dance Arts Academy, Miss Patti's School of Dance, and Hoboken Children's Theater. From 2004-2007, Pam built a following of ballet, tap, jazz, funky freestyle and Ballroom students at the Baird Center of South Orange NJ. It was during this time that Pam began branding her own unique style, challenging each student to let go of their inhibitions and bring their true selves to their performances.  Using this model, she founded her own studio, "Pamdance", of South Orange, NJ in 2007.  In 2012, Pam moved to Red Bank, NJ and sold "Pamdance" to her friends, Melissa Mooney and Angelo Defazio of the Theatre Next Door.  She continues to teach for them on Wednesday afternoons, and spends the rest of her time caring for her son, Peter (age 7) and daughter, Portia (age 2).  Pam recently successfully completed her Music Together Teacher Training and can't wait to start singing and dancing with all our Music Together families!
